Torrey Utah is situated 8 miles west of Capitol Reef National Park on Utah state highway 24 in Wayne County.
The town sits at an elevation of 6,830 feet (2082 meters) and consequently enjoys pleasant weather and temperatures year round.
Torrey was established by Mormon Settlers in the 1880’s. It is generally held to be named after Jay L. Torrey, a member of the Wyoming legislature. He was a member of a volunteer cavalry regiment nicknamed the “Rough Riders.”
